Hands-On with NVDA: Accessibility for Instructional Designers and Course Creators

Ready to experience your courses the way your learners using screen readers do? This 3-day interactive workshop gives instructional designers and course creators a hands-on introduction to NVDA, one of the most widely used free screen readers.

What To Expect

  • Explore NVDA’s reading modes and settings, and practice navigating digital content using keyboard commands.
  • Use NVDA to test for high-level accessibility issues in course content, including headings, focus order, alt text, and accurate screen reader output.
  • Apply NVDA to evaluate eLearning modules in LMS and authoring tools, identify common. accessibility barriers, and document findings for remediation and improved course design.
  • Experience content from a non-visual perspective and develop empathy for screen reader users.
