Making Online Content Accessible for All
Making Online Content Accessible for All is a 6-week facilitated course designed to equip professionals with the skills to design, evaluate, and improve accessible digital content. It is delivered through self-paced Brightspace modules and weekly 60-minute live Zoom session.
Live sessions include demonstrations of screen readers, guest speakers who share practical insights, and guided audits where participants practice evaluating content in small groups after a live demo.
The Brightspace modules include opportunities for discussion, reflection, and individualized feedback to support ongoing learning throughout the course.
Weekly mini-audits are submitted throughout the course, building the skills and evidence needed for the final project.
Learning Objectives:
- Apply the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to design and remediate digital content.
- Evaluate accessibility issues in alignment with standards. (Follow the W3C method).
- Create a final project that demonstrates proficiency in applying WCAG, auditing digital content, and communicating results.
This may include a full accessibility audit or a before-and-after remediation with a written reflection and optionally a presentation for stakeholders.
